The best beers tasted during 2016.
1. BLACK CREEK RIFLEMAN'S RATION 5%Alc/vol. CANADA
A very pleasant surprise this English style brown ale was inspired by the type of beers being produced by the troops in North America in the early 1800's.
2. COURAGE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN STOUT - 2013 VINTAGE. 10%Alc/vol. ENGLAND
Although tasted young this full flavoured originator of the style always impresses. It would be nice to see s new vintage released.
3. FREMONT DARK STAR OATMEAL STOUT BOURBON BARREL AGED - 2014 RELEASE 11%Alc/vol. USA
Very well crafted, a true subtle balance of wood and full malt flavours that paired superbly.
4. J. W. LEES HARVEST ALE - 1998 VINTAGE 11.5%Alc/vol. ENGLAND
A mass of complex bottle aged flavours, truly a classic.
5. NINKASI SLEIGH'R DARK DOUBLE ALT 7.2%Alc/vol. USA
Packed with malt flavours this was an excellent festive brew.
6. KEES EAST INDIA PORTER 6.5%Alv/vol. HOLLAND
A revived style you would not normally associate with a Dutch brewer but very well made.
7. BEER VALLEY BLACK FLAG IMPERIAL STOUT 11%Alc/vol. USA
A massively powerful brooding Imperial Stout.
8. CERVEGLARIA BOHEMIA CAA - YARI BELGIAN BLONDE 6.5%Alc/vol. BRAZIL
An impressive take on the Belgian style, full and flavoursome.
9. HOOK NORTON FLAGSHIP INDIA PALE ALE 5.3%Alc/vol. ENGLAND
A very nicely made IPA that has added complexity and peppery bite.
10. CORNELIUS BALTIC PORTER SULMAR SP. 9%Alc/vol. POLAND
A more modern approach on the Baltic style porter, stylish and impressive.
